Details:Disability Mentoring Day (2024)
Are you currently a high school student or between the ages of 14 – 21 years old? Do you have a disability? Are you interested in job shadowing a local business in the Milwaukee area? Join Independence First in celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) by participating in Disability Mentoring Day!
Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) is designed to promote career development for high school students and transition-aged youth with disabilities through hands-on career exploration. Here are some of the experiences you can have:
- Learn about local employment and internship opportunities for people with disabilities.
- Discuss and experience hands-on functions of the job while exploring personal needs related to your disability.
- Explore career interests and employment goals.
- Pair up with community-based partners at local work sites for one-on-one career coaching.
- Learn about inclusive employers in your area!
The program runs October 14th, 2024 – October 18th, 2024 in the Milwaukee area.
