Join our adaptive e-Gaming Nights!

Make friends and connections

Are you a gamer? Do you want to be?

Gaming helps us create connections, make friends, and build community. Independence First is proud to offer gaming and adaptive gaming equipment to share with our community including peer support.

The program will be run by Assistive Technology Specialist, Cortez Washington. We asked Cortez why he’s been so excited about the upcoming eGaming nights. He said, “I’m excited to provide this space for gaming for people from all walks of life. We are coming up on 5 years since the COVID pandemic first broke and for many of us, community is vital to our livelihood. Being able to provide a space to cultivate that is huge for me. Growing up, me and my friends would huddle around the TV and play games from early morning to late at night and that’s how we first developed the long-standing relationships we have now. I know that a lot of relationship building is now done more in digital spaces, but there’s something unique to the experience of being in person with others, enjoying each other’s company, and connecting over shared interests. This helps with feeling less alone in the world but can also aid in the self-discovery journey we are all on.”

We hope everyone who joins our eGaming events will feel the same connection as Cortez!
